When To Refill A Vape Tank

If you have been using your e-cig for a while, you will know that there comes a point when you need to refill your device. How do you know when the time is right, though? And how can you be sure that you are doing it properly?

Even though e-cigs and vapes are very simple devices, there are tell-tale signs that your vape juice needs topping up and there are right and wrong ways to go about it.

When to Refill a Vape Tank?

Knowing when to refill a vape tank is often a matter of common sense. In most cases, you will be able to see (or taste) that it is time to add more e-liquid to your tank. Everybody is different, though, and some vapers have their own "rules" that they like to follow.

Some people fill when the tank gets half empty (or half full!) whereas others will wait until the tank is completely empty.

When your vape really needs refilling you will know straight away---you won't get much vapour, if any, and any that you do get will be very weak in terms of flavour.

How to Refill a Vape Tank

Refilling your vape tank is a straightforward thing to do. Once you have got the hang of it, you'll be able to do it with your eyes closed!

Most vapes and tanks come in either top or bottom-fill configurations. Depending on which one yours has, the process of refilling will differ. With bottom-fill tanks, you will need to unscrew your vape's tank from the body of your device. With some top-fill tanks, it is unnecessary to unscrew the tank from the vape in order to refill it. Here's an overview of how to refill both top and bottom-fill tanks:

Top-Fill Tanks

Top-fill tanks are tanks that you refill, you guessed it, from the top of your vaping device. Here's how you do it.

1. Remove your tank from the body of your vaping device.
2. Unscrew the base of the tank and carefully remove the coil, setting it aside.
3. Saturate the coil with several drops of your chosen e-liquid. Place drops in each pinhole. Afterwards, replace the coil and attach it back to your tank.
4. Next, unscrew the top of your vape's actual tank. Fill the tank up to the tank's maximum fill line. Do not exceed the maximum fill line.
5. Carefully reassemble your vape, ensuring everything is tightly fixed back together to prevent leakage.
6. Leave your device alone for a few minutes whilst your e-liquid penetrates the wick properly.

Bottom-Fill Tanks

Surely we don't need to tell you what a bottom-fill tank is, right?

1. Remove your tank from the body of your vaping device.
2. Unscrew the body of the coil and remove it from the tank.
3. Like we said above, saturate your coil with drops of e-liquid in each pinhole.
4. Replace the coil by tightly screwing it back into the tank.
5. Unscrew the bottom of your atomiser so that you can access the vape's tank.
6. Fill the tank slowly up to the maximum fill line.
7. Reassemble your device ensuring that it is put back together tightly. Again, leave your device alone for a few minutes before attempting to use it.

Making Vape Juice Last Longer

There are a few ways you can make your vape juice last longer. By doing this, you won't need to carry out the refilling process as often.

1. Use a More Powerful Device

A more powerful device (e.g. a box mod with a powerful clearomiser) will have fewer "ohms" and more "amperage". Without diving too deep into the details, the higher the amperage, the bigger the clouds of vapour, and the less e-liquid that is used. This is because the coil can get much, much hotter which results in more vapour.

2. Ensure Your Device Isn't Leaking

If you are finding that you are getting through more liquid than usual, your device may be leaking e-liquid. Leakage is quite common with e-cigs because people either overfill their tanks or fill them incorrectly. To solve this problem, try only filling your tank halfway and seeing if the problem persists. If it does, your tank may need replacing.

3. Have Multiple Devices

If you have two or three devices, you can rotate between them. "What's the point of that?" We hear you ask. Well, many people use different devices for different things. Some people like to use one during the day and one at night. Others like to use one device for more casual, passive vaping and the other for tricks. Yet another reason some vapers prefer to use more than one vape is for the sake of different flavours, as one vape can be filled with a nice fruit e-juice like our Apple e-liquid and the other with a dessert e-liquid like our Twice on Sundae e-liquid. With multiple vapes, you will be splitting your usage and, as a result, will need to refill less frequently.

4. Increase Your Nicotine Level

If you are flying through your vape juice and are vaping a lot, chances are that the nicotine level you are vaping isn't high enough to satisfy your needs. With a higher nicotine level, your cravings will be sated much quicker meaning that you vape less with the added benefit of your vape juice lasting a lot longer. With a higher nicotine level, you won't need to vape as much to get the same hit or satisfaction.
