  • Best E-Cig Starter Kit 2019

If you are brand new to vaping and haven't the faintest idea how to get started, then the best thing you can do is buy the best e-cig starter kit.

As the name suggests, starter kits are designed for people who haven't bought any vaping equipment yet and are just getting going with their e-cig journey. They often contain everything you need for an introductory vaping experience, letting you learn the ins and outs without having to worry if you have missed something off your shopping list.

Why Buy An E-Cig Starter Kit?

More often than not, buying the best e-cigarette starter kit means you end up with a quality vape that gives you the best first-time experience; only the best and most serious vendors and manufacturers offer starter kits.

Buying a starter kit is much better than taking a risk and buying a random vape pen of unknown and questionable quality.

Also, given Australia's current situation surrounding vaping, nicotine, and e-liquids, it is much more convenient to buy a starter kit… and they carry better value for money, too.

The Best E-Cig Starter Kits 2019

Currently, Vaper Empire has an entire fleet of starter kits designed for everyone---newbie and experienced vapers alike. If you are looking to upgrade from your current vape pen or are a first-time vaper who wants to dive in at the deep end, we have what you are looking for.

The Value E-Cig Starter Kit: Vantage

Vaper Empire Vantage Series Vape Pen Vaper Empire Vantage Series.

The Vantage is our flagship vape pen. Simple, sleek, and stylish, it is an intelligent choice for anybody who wants a straightforward vape pen that delivers a good, long-lasting, and incredibly smooth overall experience.

Very easy to use, the Vantage vape pen is ready to use right out of the box. There is nothing to put together, configure, or set up.

The Deluxe Starter Kit for the Vantage Series is the best way to enjoy this fantastic product and start off your collection. The kit features:

    • 2 rechargeable 650mAh batteries
    • 2 clearomisers
    • 1 USB power cable
    • 1 Australian power adapter
    • 3 bottles of 10ml Classic e-liquid
    • 1 bottle of 10ml Artisan e-liquid
    • 1 leather-bound pouch

When buying the starter kit, you can choose from Vaper Empire's large range of e-liquids. Featuring flavours from coffee to watermelon, there is something for everyone. Nicotine strengths are available in 0mg to 24mg.

The Best Adjustable E-Cig Starter Kit: V-Twist

Vaper Empire V-Twist Series Vape Pen Vaper Empire V-Twist Series.

By far our favourite product is V-Twist. As much a statement piece as it is a vape pen, the V-Twist is made from stainless steel and has been designed to look classy and elegant whilst retaining amazing functionality.

Just like with the Vantage Series vape pen, the V-Twist is very easy to use and can be used right out of the box. Its 900mAh battery keeps you puffing away for hours and its sleek, discreet design means that it is highly portable.

The best feature of the V-Twist, however, is its adjustability---you can play around with both voltage and airflow to customise your vaping experience. Voltage can be adjusted between 3.2V and 4.8V and airflow is controlled by opening and closing a small vent on the vape's body.

Increasing voltage and decreasing airflow delivers a more potent and intense vaping experience whereas decreasing voltage and increasing airflow makes for a more subtle one.

The V-Twist Deluxe Starter Kit includes:

    • 1 900mAh adjustable voltage battery
    • 2 adjustable airflow clearomiser tanks
    • 1 USB power cable
    • 1 Australian power adapter
    • 3 bottles of 10ml Classic e-liquid
    • 1 bottle of 10ml Artisan e-liquid
    • 1 classic PU leather-bound pouch

Again, you can choose between several e-liquids to customise your starter kit.

The Most Powerful E-Cig Starter Kit: VIBE

Vaper Empire Vibe Series Vaper Empire VIBE Series.

If you want pure, raw power from your vape but don't think regular vape pens will cut it, then the VIBE Series is the ideal vape for you.

Delivering very impressive all-round performance whilst still being a simple device (all you need to do is push a button---that's it!), the VIBE delivers a very big hit for big, dense clouds of vapour. There simply is no better vaping tank available to enjoy Vaper Empire's range of quality e-liquids with---this one lets you enjoy each one's full flavour profile to its full extent.

If you are going to use the VIBE, we recommend toning down the nicotine strength you are used to. This is because the VIBE produces a very, very big hit.

The VIBE Series Deluxe Starter Kit includes:

    • 1 2000mAh rechargeable battery
    • 1 4.5ml VIBE tank with a dual-coil atomiser
    • 1 spare dual-coil atomiser
    • 1 USB power cable
    • 1 spare 'O' ring pack
    • 2 alternative drip-tip mouthpieces
    • 1 Australian power adapter
    • 3 bottles of 10ml Classic e-liquid
    • 1 bottle of 10ml Artisan e-liquid
    • 1 leather-bound carry pouch

The Best E-Cig Starter Kit for Former Smokers: V-Pack II

Vaper Empire V-Pack II Series E-Cigarette Kit Vaper Empire V-Pack II Series.

For the former smokers who are just transitioning to vaping and need a simple product that resembles a cigarette and delivers a nicotine hit, the V-Pack II should be their go-to.

Very easy to use, low-maintenance, and ideal for use on the go, the V-Pack II is a cig-a-like device and closely resembles a real cigarette… it is even stored in a portable charging case that is modelled on a cigarette pack!

Ideal for use with nicotine e-liquids, the V-Pack II is super lightweight, long-lasting, has a super slim profile, and each one delivers around 400 'puffs' before the cartomiser needs replacing.

The V-Pack II Deluxe Starter Kit includes:

    • 1 portable charging case (1,200 mAh)
    • 2 V-Pack II battery stems (170mAh)
    • 1 USB power cable
    • 1 Australian power adapter
    • 4, 5-pack cartomisers (20 in total)

Even though the V-Pack II uses disposable cartomisers, you can still choose from a range of different flavours and nicotine strengths.

  • Best Vape Pen For E-Liquid 2019

These days vape pens are everywhere. In many countries and cities across the world, you can't go out without seeing at least one person using them. This is because vaping has grown (and is continuing to grow) massively as more and more people ditch dirty, dangerous cigarettes in favour of vaping.

Indeed, for anybody who is wanting to quit smoking for good, vaping is one of the only realistic options and many people who do vape to quit smoking opt for vape pens over bigger box mods.

Finding the Best Vape Pen for E-Liquid

For first-time vapers, the biggest challenge is finding a vape pen that ticks all the right boxes. Not all vape pens are created equal—some are feature-heavy whereas others are more simplistic—and this can complicate matters.

Whilst it is great that there is a lot of choice out there, we understand that this can be overwhelming for newbies.

That is why we have put together this short guide on the best vape pens in 2019.

The Best Vape Pens for E-Liquid in 2019

Instead of putting together a huge list of vape pens, we have opted to instead focus on quality over quantity by finding two of the best. These two vape pens featured here are simply the best that you can buy at the time of writing.

The V-Twist, Best Vape Pen for Nicotine E-Liquid

A part of the Vaper Empire product line-up, the V-Twist is a sleek product that is as much a statement piece as it is a vape pen. Made from stainless steel and designed to exude pure class and elegance whilst still being discreet, the V-Twist is, without doubt, one of the best, if not the best, vape pens for e-liquids available anywhere right now.

    Here's why.

    Very Easy to Use

We love it when vape pens are very easy to use. You should be able to just pick it up and get going, and that's exactly what you get with the V-Twist. Whilst there are a number of features that we will cover momentarily, it is still a very simple product that is ideal for newbies.

    Portable and Quick to Charge

To charge up the pen's 900mAh battery, simply unscrew the clearomiser and attach the battery to its USB charger. Once it's charged, screw the clearomiser back on top. Simple.

In terms of portability, whilst the V-Twist isn't going to win any awards for being the smallest vape pen available, it is still very portable and can be transported in a pocket, bag, or purse with relative ease.

    Adjustable Airflow and Voltage

Whilst adjusting voltage isn't something you will need to focus much on as a newbie, it is a nice feature to have and will come in useful in the future. With the V-Twist, simply twist (hence the name!) the bottom of the vape to adjust voltage between 3.2V and 4.8V.

Airflow is adjustable, too. Again, all it takes is a quick twist and you're all set. On the V-Twist, the airflow can be adjusted by twisting the small vent between the power button and the e-liquid tank. When twisted to the left, the vent closes to decrease airflow and when twisted to the right, the vent opens to increase airflow.

Most people opt to keep the vent half-open so that they get the best of both worlds. Finding the ideal setting for you, however, will be a case of trial and error.

    Potency Control

Adjusting the voltage and airflow in tandem lets you adjust potency. Increase the voltage and close the vents for more potency and thicker clouds of vapour. Turn down the voltage and open the vents for a lighter, more subtle output.

The Vantage, The Best 'Simple' Vape Pen for E-Liquid

Whilst the V-Twist by Vaper Empire is a fantastic product, you may want something a little bit simpler that still delivers. That's where the Vantage comes in. The Vantage is a simpler (but still classy, discreet, and elegant) device that is very compact and weighs in at under 50g.

    Impressive Battery Performance

Featuring 650mAh batteries, these are long-lasting and will deliver over a thousand 'puffs' and 'drags' before they need recharging. Just like with the V-Twist, the battery is charged via USB and takes a few hours to fill up. It is able to withstand around 380 charge cycles.

    Extremely Discreet and Portable

Whilst the V-Twist fell in the mid-sized category, the Vantage is more on the small side. The vantage measures in at a mere 143mm x 14mm and weighs only 37g. This means that it fits nicely into bags, pockets, and purses for easy carrying.

    A Simpler Vaping Experience

If you don't want to jump in at the deep end at the start of your vaping journey, the Vantage is definitely the way to go.

The product is small, discreet, easy to use, and delivers a pleasant vaping experience that isn't too overpowering or overwhelming. It is a fantastic starter device that you can use to get to grips with vaping before graduating on to a more involved device like the V-Twist.

    A Huge Selection of Flavours

Both the V-Twist and the Vantage can be topped up with a huge selection of vape juices. Whether you want to vape with nicotine-free vape juice, nicotine-light vape juice, or nicotine-heavy vape juice, both devices can handle them.

With hundreds of different flavours and concoctions available (and that's before you factor in mixing your own by combining two or more vape juice flavours!) you are bound to find the right one for you.

    Getting Started with Vaping

If you are looking to get started with vaping, there is no better place to go than the Vaper Empire Online Store.

Here, you can find starter kits—including the V-Twist Starter Kits and the Vantage Starter Kits, the two products covered here—that include everything you need to get going, some of which include a small selection of our favourite and most popular vape juices!

Also available on the Vaper Empire Online Store is a huge range of accessories and other vape-related products.

  • Can You Bring A Vape On A Plane?

Vaping has grown rapidly in popularity over the last few years, especially in countries where smoking in public places, such as the UK and Australia, has been banned. Today, there are hundreds of millions of people worldwide who do it.

Since it is still a relatively new thing, regulations surrounding vaping are not quite so clear cut. One area where the vaping situation is clear, though, is air travel---today, the question of whether you can bring a vape on a plane is one that is, for the most part, relatively easy to answer.

In short, you can---but there are some things you need to be aware of before you do.

Bringing a Vape on a Plane

When it comes to bringing your vape on the plane with you, there are a few rules that you need to follow.

    Bringing E-Liquids on the Plane

So far as liquids are concerned, the same rules apply to vapers as they do to non-vapers---the maximum volume of liquid you can bring per container in your hand luggage, including e-liquids, is 100ml. The number of liquid bottles that you are allowed to pack in your hand luggage varies, however, it is a small transparent plastic quart-sized bag in most cases.

The good news is that e-liquids don't often come in quantities exceeding 100ml. In many cases, bottles carry up to 30ml at most. If you want to take more e-liquids with you than you are allowed to carry in your hand luggage, you will need to pack it in your hold luggage.

Bringing Vaping Devices on the Plane

The situation gets a little more complicated and deviates from the norms when it comes to vaping devices such as e-cigs and box mods.

The problem here is with batteries---because vaping devices contain lithium-ion batteries, you cannot place them in your checked luggage, only your carry-on luggage. This is the same for all electronic devices.

Even if you have disconnected your batteries and placed them in your carry-on luggage, you cannot place your device(s) in your hold luggage. Any and all vaping devices must go in your carry-on irrespective of whether the battery is connected. This rule is global and applies to all airlines.

Furthermore, you cannot, under any circumstances, charge your e-cig or vape on the plane.

    Going Through Security

When you are heading through security, take your vaping device(s) and any batteries out of your luggage, just like you do with liquids, to ensure the speediest process possible. It's always a good idea to keep your device(s) and any batteries in clear plastic bags to keep them safer.

Using E-Cigs and Vapes on a Plane

This should go without saying---you cannot, under any circumstances, use your e-cig or vape on the plane. Doing so is a crime and will not only get you in legal trouble but will also most likely get your name put on a no-fly list.

The best thing you can do is just leave all your vaping devices, accessories, batteries, and e-liquids stowed away in your luggage. There is no reason for you to have them about your person when you are travelling on a plane.

Check Out the Situation Where You're Traveling

It is always a great idea to do your research before you travel to suss out the vaping situation in the country where you are travelling. Although you may be able to enjoy hassle-free vaping in most Western nations such as Australia, the U.S., and the UK, the same cannot be said everywhere.

Some nations may have stricter rules about vaping in public places. Some nations may not allow it between certain times or in certain places or ban it outright. Some nations may be unfamiliar with vaping full stop.

Before you head for your flight, check the legal status of vaping in your destination country and, if it is, where you are allowed to vape. Furthermore, be culturally-aware---try not to be obnoxious with it (what is socially acceptable in Australia may not be acceptable elsewhere!) and be ready for questions from curious locals.

Top Tips for Traveling with a Vape

That may seem like a lot of information but travelling with a vape is actually very simple. Here are three more tips that you may want to take inspiration from.

    1. Clean All Your Equipment

Before travelling, make sure to empty out your e-cigs and vapes. Although this is not a requirement for travel, keep in mind that your device will be travelling with you on the plane and that differences in pressure could damage your device if any e-liquid is present, particularly if the tank is full.

    2. Put It All in Your Carry-On

Remember, vaping devices and batteries cannot be stowed in your hold luggage. It must go in your carry-on bag. To make sure you don't mess anything up, it's a good idea to place anything that's even remotely vape-related in your carry-on. This includes any accessories and bottles of e-liquid. Make sure that it is placed somewhere that is easy to access so that security may inspect it if they so desire.

    3. Take What You Need

If you're only going away on a short weekend break, do you really need to take 3 devices and 11 different bottles of e-liquid? As the saying goes, less is more. Don't try to pack your entire collection of vaping gear as you will just set yourself up for failure. Take one device and a small number of accessories and liquids. Chances are that you won't even use them all anyway.

    Looking for Some Travel Accessories?

If you travel a lot, it is a good idea to put together a vaping travel kit. Buy a simple, single device, a few bottles of e-liquid, a few accessories, and a handy bag to pack it all in. This way, you will always be prepared---simply throw your vaping travel kit in your carry-on and you are good to go.

The Vaper Empire online vaping supply store has everything you need to make one of these travel kits---check it out today!

  • Can Vape Juice Expire?

You are probably here because you have gone to fill up your vape with your favourite e-liquid, only to see that it has expired. You've given the bottle a good shake, examined the liquid, and taken a smell of it and it all seems fine… so, is it OK to use? Can vape juice really go "bad"?

E-liquid expiration date info is actually very straightforward. Just like with regular food and drink, all bottles come with an expiration date stamped on it. These expiration dates can typically be found on the label or a bottle's neck, however, there has been a bit of confusion amongst vapers about exactly what this means.

    E-Liquid Expiration Date Info

Is it safe to use vape juice after its expiration date? Does "expired" vape juice taste any different? Does it produce the same amount of vapour?

These are questions that we hear asked time and time again.

Just like expiration dates on foods, those printed on vape juice bottles are mere estimations; they are not set in stone and, more often than not, manufacturers use expiration dates with a very wide scope, just to be on the safe side.

Vape juice expiration dates do not mean that when the clock strikes 12 on the day that the liquid is due to expire, the vape juice becomes dangerous to use. The expiration date merely serves as a reminder to perhaps use up that vape juice quicker than your others, which is why here at Vaper Empire we label our bottles with a "best by" date, as opposed to an expiration date.

Are Expired Vape Juices Bad for Health?

No, they are not---vape juice that has gone past its expiry date has no ill effects. Remember, vape juices are composed of very simple, safe ingredients:

    • Water
    • Propylene glycol
    • Vegetable glycol
    • Flavourings (natural and/or artificial)
    • Nicotine (except in nicotine-free vape juice)

    That's it.

For expired vape juices that you have doubts about, it may be best to simply throw them away. Like other food-grade items, expired vape juices can make you feel nauseous (albeit, this is usually a placebo effect!).

Your valuable vaping time is going to be spent better on using only the best, prime vape juice that has not expired or lost its flavour.

    Vape Juice Shelf Life

Most e-liquids will last for a year or two. This is more than enough time (unless you have a lot of the stuff) to use it up.

This is because vape juices' primary ingredients, PG, VG (and often, nicotine) are chemicals that have long shelf lives. When stored under normal and optimum conditions, they will last.

Despite this, many vape juices can be used for several years after their expiration dates. This is because every vape juice is different---it also depends a little on what additives and flavourings are used---and each one will begin to degrade appearance, flavour, and performance at different points in time.

It probably doesn't help to say that it is mostly up to you to decide whether your vape juice has passed the point of no return.

How to Tell if Vape Juice Has Gone Bad

So, given that vape juice is usually fine to consume after its expiry date, how can you tell if one has gone bad? After all, it is a food-grade consumable and whilst it won't harm you, an expired vape juice may not live up to your expectations.

Some of the signs that your vape juice has gone bad include:

    • Liquid that appears more watery than usual
    • Liquid that has separated or is not as viscous as it was originally
    • Liquid that will not recombine when shaken up
    • Liquid that does not smell as strongly as it once did
    • Liquid that doesn't produce the same amount of vapour or have the same flavour

Usually, telling whether or not a vape juice has expired is a case of applying common sense---you can usually tell just by looking at or smelling it.

    Making Vape Juice Last Longer

With proper storage, it is easy to make your vape juices last long beyond the date of expiry.

The best way to store vape juice, no matter what brand, flavour, or nicotine strength it is, is to store it in a cool, dark place away from any direct sunlight. When exposed to sunlight, the chemicals in vape juice break down as the liquid heats up and this can cause it to spoil quicker. A tell-tale sign of vape juice that has taken badly to the sun is a change in colour---it will get darker and turn a pale yellow over time.

Of course, it is not always possible to keep your vape juice out of the sun for 100% of the time. Therefore, it is recommended by some that vapers only buying vape juice that comes in dark (brown or green) coloured glass bottles and ensuring that they are tightly sealed and stored in a cool, dark place when not in use. However, glass is fragile and carrying around a glass bottle of e-liquid is not always ideal, which is in part why we here at Vaper Empire opt to use non-glass e-juice containers that won't easily break if accidentally dropped.

    Disposing of Expired Vape Juice

If you are sitting on a small stash of expired juices that you are not going to use, there are certain (responsible) ways you should dispose of them.

You can, of course, simply throw the bottles in the trash. The downside here is that they will go to landfill---this isn't very environmentally friendly. Instead, we recommend pouring the vape juice in something absorbent (i.e. cat litter) and recycling the bottles.

Don't just dump it down the drain, though. Nicotine can leech into the waterways and it is expensive for the water companies to filter out.

    Need Some New Vape Juice?

If you need some new vape juices because your old ones have expired, head on over to the Vaper Empire online store. All our juices come with long shelf lives in packaging that helps them stay fresh. Both our classic and artisan ranges come in a variety of flavours and nicotine strengths.

As Australia's #1 premium vaping brand, we also sell a huge range of vaping devices and vaping accessories, too.

  • PG Vs VG E-Liquid

One of the most common questions from newbie vapers is "What is the difference between PG and VG e-liquid?" We hear it time and time again, so we have decided to answer it once and for all!

To a newcomer, PG and VG can seem confusing. Knowing what these two terms are and what they mean, however, can dramatically improve your vaping experience because you will be able to make a more informed decision when buying e-liquids.

    What's Inside E-Liquid?

Aside from VG and/or PG, not a whole lot, actually! While the components can vary depending on the e-liquid, there usually isn't too much going on in them. There are four e-liquid components that remain the same in all of them, though:

    • Water;
    • Flavouring;
    • PG or VG (or both as a mixture); and
    • Nicotine (aside from nicotine-free e-liquid).

Whilst some e-liquids will have 100% PG or 100% VG, it is more common to see a mixture (or ratio) of the two. This provides more flexibility for vapers and lets them choose a PG:VG ratio that works best for them.

This is pretty self-explanatory. While not all e-liquids contain water, many e-liquids do.

The amount of flavouring depends heavily on your e-liquid. Natural flavours (e.g. fruits) are more straightforward than synthetic flavours (e.g. bubble-gum or cinnamon roll) and so fewer of them are present.

You can also get flavourless e-liquid, but this is not very popular for obvious reasons.

Nicotine is the addictive chemical found in cigarettes that keeps people hooked on them. It is present in e-liquids so that people can wean themselves off cigarettes and onto vaping whilst still satisfying their nicotine cravings.

Over time, many ex-smokers adjust the nicotine concentration in their e-liquids downwards until they are vaping with little-to-no nicotine at all. You can buy nicotine-free e-liquids, too. These are mostly used by people who have never smoked before and choose to vape for the social aspect or out of pure enjoyment. Here at Vaper Empire, our e-liquids are available with and without nicotine. For those that prefer to vape e-liquids that contain nicotine, we offer varying strength that range from none at all (0mg) to very strong (24mg).

    VG (Vegetable Glycerine)

VG is a natural chemical that is derived from vegetable oils. It is used in e-liquids to give it that 'thick' vapour sensation when it is inhaled. It is slightly sweet and provides a smooth "hit" to the throat when inhaled.

Often, flavourings and nicotine are suspended in PG (see below), however, many manufacturers are beginning to offer a 100% VG alternative for 100% VG e-liquids.

    Other Uses for VG

VG is not just used in e-liquids. It can be found in:

    • Artificial sweeteners;
    • Beauty products (e.g. shower gel);
    • Soaps and creams;
    • Baked goods (think of pre-packaged store-bought moist cake); and
    • Dental care products.

    Is VG Safe to Consume?

VG is widely recognized as safe to consume orally and is classified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as "generally recognised as safe". In the case of vaping, VG is not ingested via swallowing, but rather inhaled. Presently, there is limited research into its effects on the human body when it is inhaled in the form of a vapour produced by a vaping device.

    Side Effects

VG is not recognised as being an irritant and allergies are extremely rare.

One possible side effect with VG is dehydration. Increased thirst, dry mouth, and a sore throat are all indicative of dehydration. If you notice these symptoms after taking up vaping with a VG-heavy e-liquid, it may be wise to drink lots of water.

Over time with regular use, VG-related dehydration has been known to disappear.

    PG (Propylene Glycerine)

PG is a petroleum by-product. In e-liquids, it is used to provide that all-important 'throat hit' that mimics the smoking of tobacco products. Despite being a by-product of petroleum, it is not toxic and is, again, recognised as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Less viscous than VG, PG carries e-liquid flavourings more effectively and this is why most e-liquids will contain at least some PG. PG itself is odourless and flavourless.

    Other Uses for PG

    PG is also found in:

    • Nicotine inhalers;
    • Medical products (e.g. topical formulations);
    • Toothpaste and oral hygiene products; and
    • Beauty products (e.g. shampoo).

    Is PG Safe to Consume?

Again, PG is recognised as generally safe to consume. Like VG, most research centres around PG being consumed via ingestion rather than inhalation.

    Side Effects

Some people can find that PG irritates their throat, especially first-time vapers who have no history of smoking. Allergies to PG are possible, however, they are incredibly rare. If you find that you are getting lots of irritation with a high PG e-liquid, consider using a liquid with a higher VG concentration.

Potential side effect of PG include dry mouth and other symptoms of dehydration (sore throat and increased thirst, etc.) If you hydrate yourself properly, these symptoms may go away after a few weeks of regular PG inhalation.

    What PG:VG Ratio is Best?

The answer to this question solely depends on you. There is no single solution here---it all boils down to the type of vaping experience that you want. Many people use various PG:VG ratios depending on the purpose they are vaping for.

    Here are a few options:

    • If you want a sharp throat hit that simulates smoking, go for a high PG e-liquid.
    • If you want a smoother feeling on the throat, go for a high VG e-liquid.
    • If you want to keep your vaping low-profile, high PG e-liquids produce less vapour.
    • If you want to produce big, thick dense clouds of vapour, high VG e-liquids are your only option---the higher the VG percentage, the better.

Many people find that a 50:50 ratio is just fine for them and gives the best of both worlds. We recommend trying e-liquids in varying ratios to find the ideal one for you. With vaping, it's all about trial and error to find the perfect device, flavour, and PG:VG ratio.

At Vaper Empire, all of our e-liquids are expertly crafted, ensuring a premium vaping experience for all of our customers.

    Ready to Get Going?

If you are ready to take a few different e-liquids for a spin, head on over to the Vaper Empire online store.

We stock everything from vaping hardware to e-liquids and accessories, and all our products are manufactured following strict quality control measures. This is why we are often recognised as Australia's best online vaping retailer.

  • When To Refill A Vape Tank

If you have been using your e-cig for a while, you will know that there comes a point when you need to refill your device. How do you know when the time is right, though? And how can you be sure that you are doing it properly?

Even though e-cigs and vapes are very simple devices, there are tell-tale signs that your vape juice needs topping up and there are right and wrong ways to go about it.

Whether you are using a starter e-cig or a more advanced kit, we have all the information that you need to get things right.

When to Refill a Vape Tank?

Knowing when to refill a vape tank is often a matter of common sense. In most cases, you will be able to see (or taste) that it is time to add more e-liquid to your tank. Everybody is different, though, and some vapers have their own "rules" that they like to follow.

Some people fill when the tank gets half empty (or half full!) whereas others will wait until the tank is completely empty.

When your vape really needs refilling you will know straight away---you won't get much vapour, if any, and any that you do get will be very weak in terms of flavour.

How to Refill a Vape Tank

Refilling your vape tank is a straightforward thing to do. Once you have got the hang of it, you'll be able to do it with your eyes closed!

Most vapes and tanks come in either top or bottom-fill configurations. Depending on which one yours has, the process of refilling will differ. With bottom-fill tanks, you will need to unscrew your vape's tank from the body of your device. With some top-fill tanks, it is unnecessary to unscrew the tank from the vape in order to refill it. Here's an overview of how to refill both top and bottom-fill tanks:

    Top-Fill Tanks

Top-fill tanks are tanks that you refill, you guessed it, from the top of your vaping device. Here's how you do it.

    1. Remove your tank from the body of your vaping device.
    2. Unscrew the base of the tank and carefully remove the coil, setting it aside.
    3. Saturate the coil with several drops of your chosen e-liquid. Place drops in each pinhole. Afterwards, replace the coil and attach it back to your tank.
    4. Next, unscrew the top of your vape's actual tank. Fill the tank up to the tank's maximum fill line. Do not exceed the maximum fill line.
    5. Carefully reassemble your vape, ensuring everything is tightly fixed back together to prevent leakage.
    6. Leave your device alone for a few minutes whilst your e-liquid penetrates the wick properly.

    Bottom-Fill Tanks

Surely we don't need to tell you what a bottom-fill tank is, right?

    1. Remove your tank from the body of your vaping device.
    2. Unscrew the body of the coil and remove it from the tank.
    3. Like we said above, saturate your coil with drops of e-liquid in each pinhole.
    4. Replace the coil by tightly screwing it back into the tank.
    5. Unscrew the bottom of your atomiser so that you can access the vape's tank.
    6. Fill the tank slowly up to the maximum fill line.
    7. Reassemble your device ensuring that it is put back together tightly. Again, leave your device alone for a few minutes before attempting to use it.

    Still Not Sure?

We recommend watching a few YouTube videos if you are still unsure and want a visual demonstration. Plenty of high-quality ones are available, and all largely go through the same process.

Refilling Vaper Empire Vape Tanks & Cartomisers

With Vaper Empire vapes, refilling is extremely easy and straightforward. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise given that we design all of our vaping devices to be very easy to use.

To refill a Vaper Empire vape tank or cartomiser, simply unscrew the top, fill the reservoir with e-liquid, screw the top back on, and then allow for about 10 minutes to pass before using. That's all there is to it.

    Making Vape Juice Last Longer

There are a few ways you can make your vape juice last longer. By doing this, you won't need to carry out the refilling process as often.

    1. Use a More Powerful Device

A more powerful device (e.g. a box mod with a powerful clearomiser) will have fewer "ohms" and more "amperage". Without diving too deep into the details, the higher the amperage, the bigger the clouds of vapour, and the less e-liquid that is used. This is because the coil can get much, much hotter which results in more vapour.

    2. Ensure Your Device Isn't Leaking

If you are finding that you are getting through more liquid than usual, your device may be leaking e-liquid. Leakage is quite common with e-cigs because people either overfill their tanks or fill them incorrectly. To solve this problem, try only filling your tank halfway and seeing if the problem persists. If it does, your tank may need replacing.

    3. Have Multiple Devices

If you have two or three devices, you can rotate between them. "What's the point of that?" We hear you ask. Well, many people use different devices for different things. Some people like to use one during the day and one at night. Others like to use one device for more casual, passive vaping and the other for tricks. Yet another reason some vapers prefer to use more than one vape is for the sake of different flavours, as one vape can be filled with a nice fruit e-juice like our Apple e-liquid and the other with a dessert e-liquid like our Twice on Sundae e-liquid. With multiple vapes, you will be splitting your usage and, as a result, will need to refill less frequently.

    4. Increase Your Nicotine Level

If you are flying through your vape juice and are vaping a lot, chances are that the nicotine level you are vaping isn't high enough to satisfy your needs. With a higher nicotine level, your cravings will be sated much quicker meaning that you vape less with the added benefit of your vape juice lasting a lot longer. With a higher nicotine level, you won't need to vape as much to get the same hit or satisfaction.

  • Can You Take E-Cigarettes On A Plane In Australia?

Once upon a time, back in the glory days, you were able to light up a cigarette on flights anywhere in the world, and with any operator. Not only that, all plane seats were designed with comfort in mind, were spacious, and there were no long security lines or invasive bag checks, either.

Today, however, the situation is a little different.

Although red tape and security checks may be annoying, it serves a purpose---the safety of yourself and your fellow passengers.

Whilst it goes without saying that you can no longer smoke cigarettes on planes, what about vapes? Can you take e-cigs on a plane in Australia (or anywhere else in the world, for that matter)? After all, vaping is nothing like smoking aside from the fact that it looks similar, of course.

    The Rules and Regulations

Regulations surrounding the bringing and use of vapes and vaping equipment on planes have changed over the last few years, and changes are always being made.

In this article, we are going to cover the current situation at the time of writing in June 2019 and tell you everything you need to know about vaping and air travel, from departure airport to final destination.

    E-Cigarettes in Airports

Whether or not you can vape (or smoke!) in an airport is a question that does not have a definitive answer. The rules differ all around the world---some airports allow you to smoke and vape, or just vape (or just smoke!) whereas others ban it altogether.

In Australia, the situation is similar.

Depending on the airport you are at, you may or may not be able to vape. Often, it depends on the laws of the territory the airport is in. At Adelaide Airport, for example, there are designated areas for smoking and vaping, however, both are banned indoors.

Most airports have a vaping policy in place, so we recommend double-checking the situation with a member of staff before you do anything. These policies are always changing, and many airports do not publish this information online.

    E-Cigarettes in Luggage

E-cigarette batteries now have a global ban on being included in checked luggage. If you wish to travel with your e-cig batteries, you will need to place them in your hand luggage. This includes e-cig devices too, and vaporisers and vape pens. There are no exceptions to this rule. This is governed by the International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO Doc 9284.

Vape juices and other accessories that do not fall into the category of batteries and "nicotine delivery devices" can be carried in checked luggage.

This is because batteries in a small confined space may overheat and pose a fire risk.

Each airline has its own policy on how many batteries you can take onboard a plane. Jetstar, for example, lets you carry up to 8 or 12 depending on their size.

    E-Cigarettes on Airplanes

Most airlines in Australia and around the world allow the carrying of e-cigs and vaping equipment onboard their aircraft. We always recommend checking with the airline you will be travelling with, however, for the most current information.

All airlines, however, have a policy against the use and charging of e-cigs on aeroplanes. So, whilst you can take them on board, you cannot charge up the battery or vape.

So far as carrying e-liquids on a plane goes, you can do this following the typical airport liquids policy. This means that you can only carry bottles of e-liquid in quantities under 30ml and, more often than not, you can only take one clear plastic sandwich bag's worth on board; all the liquids you are carrying onboard must fit in this bag.

The policy of how many liquids under 100ml you can carry onboard a plane can vary in some places, however. Before you travel, always check what allowance an airline gives for liquids. Otherwise, you may find yourself having to throw some of your e-liquids away if you want to clear security.

Tips for Air Travel With E-Cigs and Vape Equipment

There are some best practices you should follow whenever you travel with e-cigs on planes. This will not only ensure that you have the smoothest experience possible when clearing security and boarding, but that your equipment will not be damaged.

    Disconnect All Your Devices

Disconnect your devices (cartomisers, atomisers, and cartridges) from their batteries. This will make checks quicker and prevent delays when passing through security.

    Clean Out Your Equipment

Empty out your vape(s) and e-cig(s) where possible before travelling. Whilst this is not necessary for passing through security, the difference in pressure could cause damage to your vape and cause a leak. If you want to travel with some e-liquid loaded in your tank, only fill it around halfway.

Once you have cleaned up your kit, separate everything and, for bonus points, pack it all in independent plastic bags. This makes the checking process quicker even more.

    Place Everything in Your Carry-On

As we mentioned earlier, you must carry your vape equipment in your carry-on bag. You cannot carry nicotine-dispensing devices and batteries in your hold luggage and if you try to, you will be forced to unpack it.

Place all your cleaned and disconnected vape equipment in your carry-on. Ideally, you want to place it somewhere that is easily accessible in case security want to check it over.

    Only Take What You Need

This is perhaps our best tip---only take the stuff that you need. Don't try to pack your entire collection. Space in carry-ons is precious and the more you try to take with you, the higher the chance of you breaking something or facing complications when passing through security.

    Less is more.

  • How To Clean Your Vape

If you have been using your vape for a little while, it is probably due to a bit of a clean. But, you're hesitant. We get it. You don't want to damage or break your sleek, shiny vape but. However, at the same time, your vape has gotten a little dirty and grimy and your vaping experience is suffering as a result (we've all been there)!

So, if you don't know how to vape---we were all newbies once upon a time, don't worry---then carry on reading; you will find all the information that you need in here.

If you want to get the most out of your vape and keep it working in top condition for years to come, looking after it properly with thorough maintenance and cleaning is key. By doing this, your vape won't just last a long time but you will get the best flavour from your e-liquid, too.

    Breaking Down a Standard Vape

Before you go taking apart your vape, it is important to know its anatomy. For the purpose of this article, we are going to assume that you are using a vape pen, vaporiser, or sort of pen-style device. These are generally made up of the following components.

    1. The tank that holds your e-liquid. This is usually paired with your atomiser.
    2. The coil, which is a heating element. It converts e-liquid into vapour.
    3. The battery, which is the power source of your device. Sometimes, batteries can have temperature controls.

If you are using a vape mod (or "box mod") then the battery is typically larger and contained within the mod's housing. This depends on the device in question, though.

It is very easy to take apart most vaping devices. More often than not, it is simply a case of twisting, pushing, and unscrewing a few components. They are designed to be accessible for the purposes of cleaning, refilling, and swapping out components.

When Should I Clean My Vape?

The answer to this is "it depends".

If you stick to one e-liquid religiously, you won't need to clean out your vape as often as somebody who has a selection of different vape juices. This is because vaping best practice dictates that each time you change your e-liquid flavour, you should clean out your vape (simply by rinsing it under some running water in most cases) to avoid messing up the taste.

If you have used a particularly pungent vape juice (we're talking CBD juices, etc) then using rubbing alcohol to completely get rid of any residual taste will be needed.

Whether you use one or one hundred vape juices, though, there comes a time when you will need to clean out your device. It is something that's unavoidable.

You will know that it is time to give your device a clean when:

    • When you notice a change in quality (e.g. flavour and/or output)
    • When you can see dirt and gunk that has built up in the device
    • When your hits don't feel as smooth as they once did
    • When you need to take harder pulls

… there are lots of signs. Often, as with most things, you need to use your common sense. With a regular, planned cleaning regime or schedule, you won't need to do any guesswork and you will always have an optimum vaping experience.

    How to Clean a Vape

Fortunately, cleaning a vape is a very quick and simple process. You don't need any special tools and it will be over quicker than you think.

The advice given here is general advice that should apply to most devices. You should always check your own device's instructions before performing a clean.

We recommend cleaning your tank each time you change e-liquid for maximum flavour… we've all made the mistake of not doing so, though, and getting back-flavour of the last one you used.

Cleaning the tank is very simple and it can be done in multiple ways. To do so, simply detach the tank from your vape, dispose of any e-liquid and then clean with one of the following options:

    1. Rinse it under clean, running water.
    2. Use high-proof pure alcohol and cotton balls. Give it a good scrub before rinsing.
    3. Use baking soda with a toothbrush.

For methods two and three, make sure you thoroughly rinse the residual alcohol or baking soda off under clean, running water. Method one is sufficient for a quick rinse when changing flavours whereas two and three are best for dirty tanks or tanks that have had a very strong and potent e-liquid used in them.

Once you have cleaned the tank, dry it off with paper towels.

    Cleaning Vape Coils

It isn't just in the tank where dirt and gunk can accumulate---it often happens in vape coils, too.

Cleaning coils works in the same way as cleaning your tank. The best way to do it is to rinse the coil under hot running water to wash away any debris or residual half-heated liquid. You can use rubbing alcohol too (but not baking soda!)---just ensure that you rinse it all off and let the coil dry.

Coils can be a tricky one, though---no matter how well you clean your vape, you will eventually need to replace your coil. The more you use your device, the more frequently it will need replacing.

You can differentiate a dirty coil from one that needs replacing quite easily, though. If:

    • Your coil is visually dark, burnt, or damaged
    • You get a "burnt" taste after cleaning your device
    • You are having leakage issues
    • Less vapour is being produced

Then your coil probably needs replacing. Replacing a coil in a vape is very easy and there are plenty of video guides available on YouTube.

  • How To Choose The Right E-Juice Nicotine Strength

When you are trying to decide which e-liquid to buy, one of the main things you need to consider is what concentration of nicotine it contains---i.e. its nicotine strength. Deciding which nicotine strength e-liquid to buy can be difficult, especially when you are trying to balance enjoyment with your nicotine cravings.

More often than not, vapers resort to good old trial and error to decide which strength is best for them, however, by doing your research, you will be better able to make a more informed choice.

Choosing the right e-liquid with the right nicotine level is essential for getting the best vaping experience, especially if you are just switching over from cigarettes. If you choose an e-liquid with a small nicotine concentration, it may not satisfy your cravings. Conversely, too high a concentration may be far too intense for you.

In this article, we are going to tell you everything that you need to know about e-liquid nicotine strengths.

    E-Liquid Nicotine Strengths

Most e-liquid flavours are sold in a range of nicotine strengths that vary from nicotine-free and low concentrations to super high concentrations.

Each e-liquid manufacturer has different standards when it comes to strength, however, simply reading "low" or "high" on a bottle won't tell you much information. To deduce nicotine strength, you will need to look at the label and see how many milligrams of nicotine an e-liquid contains.

Generally speaking, e-liquids are available in concentrations incrementing in 3mg or 6mg. So 0mg is nicotine-free, 6mg is low, 24mg is high, and 12mg and 18mg are the in-betweens. 30-36mg+ is very high. In some cases, e-liquid manufacturers go even higher, offering very-very high nicotine concentrations to their customers.

Nicotine strength is measured in milligrams per millilitre. So, in a 100ml bottle of e-liquid, a 12mg nicotine strength would mean that the bottle is 1.2% nicotine by volume. In a 10ml bottle of e-liquid with a strength of 24mg, there will be 240mg of nicotine in total.

You also need to keep in mind that nicotine strength applies to all the liquid in the bottle. You won't get 24mg of nicotine intake if you vape 1/10th of the above 10ml bottle in a single sitting. Additionally, only around 40 to 60% is absorbed into our bloodstream.

    Choosing the Right Nicotine Level

To get the most enjoyment out of your vape, it is important to choose the right nicotine level. To select the right one, you should ask yourself two questions:

    1. What is your current tobacco use (i.e. how much do you smoke)?
    2. What type of device are you using?

Equating tobacco nicotine levels to e-liquid nicotine levels is not a case of looking at the number of cigarettes you smoke per day. It is more about the kind of cigarettes that you smoke---cigarettes do not contain an exact level of nicotine, and nicotine levels are not listed on cigarette packaging.

This is because some cigarettes contain more nicotine than others. We can, however, segment smokers into three distinct categories:

    • Those who smoke strong unfiltered cigarettes. These contain the most nicotine and you will want an e-liquid in the very strong range, which is around 24mg or higher.
    • Those who smoke "regular" cigarettes. These are filtered, medium-strength cigarettes that call for a mid-level e-liquid nicotine strength of around 16mg.
    • Those who smoke lighter and ultra-light cigarettes should opt for an e-liquid with around 6mg to 12mg of nicotine.

    I Am a Non-Smoker, What Should I Choose?

Unfortunately, lots of people wrongly believe that vaping is only for current and ex-smokers. This is simply not the case. Lots of people who have never smoked before decide to vape out of pure enjoyment, or for the social aspect.

For non-smokers who have taken up vaping, there are nicotine-free e-liquids available. These smell, taste, perform, and function in a nearly identical capacity as their nicotine-containing counterparts. The only difference is that they do not contain any nicotine, period.

For the most part, nicotine-free e-liquids are recommended to non-smokers who want to vape.

Consider the Device You Are Using

The other consideration you need to take into account is the type of device that you are using.

For people using "traditional" vapes and e-cigarettes---the small, slender cig-a-like devices---it is easier to choose a nicotine strength because you can more closely match it to your tobacco usage.

More powerful devices such as vaporiser pens and box mods with vape tanks require e-liquids that are of a lower strength to match tobacco usage. This is because these devices themselves are far more powerful and use a higher amount of vape juice in one sitting.

Where a cig-a-like e-cig may use 1ml of vape juice in a single session, a vaporiser or vape mod may use two, three, or four times that amount. That means you will be getting two, three, or four times the amount of nicotine in that single sitting unless you adjust it appropriately.

This is especially true when it comes to box mods. Often, these are as powerful as 20 watts.

I Want to Quit Nicotine Altogether---What Do I Do?

Vaping is perfect for quitting smoking (and nicotine) altogether.

Most people who quit via vaping do so by starting with a vape juice that has the right nicotine strength for them. Over time, they adjust their vape juice nicotine strengths down bit-by-bit. Doing this "weans" them off the higher-level nicotine strengths whilst still satisfying their cravings until they are eventually vaping e-liquids at the lower-end of the nicotine scale. Once a former smoker turned vaper has reached the point at which they're strictly vaping nicotine-free e-liquids, the nicotine addiction has been kicked.

    Discover Our Range of E-Liquids

At Vaper Empire, we stock a huge range of our own classic and artisanal e-liquids. These come in nicotine strengths of varying levels, from nicotine-free to super-high, and a range of weird and wonderful flavours.

We may be somewhat biased in saying this, but we believe we are Australia's premier supplier of vaping products.

  • How E-Cigarettes Work

We are going to assume that you know what e-cigarettes are and what vaping is (and if you don't, where have you been for the past five-or-so years!?) But, have you ever wondered how do e-cigarettes work?

How can it be that an activity that looks, feels, and gives the same "buzz" as smoking cigarettes is a whole lot safer, better for the environment, and has no long-lasting ill health effects? Surely it does, right?

    Well, not exactly.

Carry on reading if you would like to find out how exactly e-cigarettes work. Spoiler alert, it has nothing to do with magic!

    What Is An E-Cig?

An e-cigarette (also known as an e-cig, vape, vaporiser, or "box mod", amongst other things) is a battery-powered device that converts e-liquid (or "vape juice") into a vapour that can then be inhaled and exhaled.

Unlike cigarettes, e-cigs heat up a liquid and turn it into vapour; vaping does not involve the burning and combustion of tobacco and this is why it is so much safer and has no long-term negative health effects (so far as we know, that is!)

    What Is An E-Liquid?

An e-liquid, sometimes referred to as "vape juice", is the liquid that is stored inside an e-cigarette tank or cartridge. E-liquids come in all manner of flavours---think fresh fruits, cereals, baked goods, and even popular alcoholic drinks and cocktails---which is partly why vaping is so popular.

These e-liquids are typically made up of water, food-grade flavourings, a carrier (usually a mixture of vegetable glycerine and propylene glycol) for the flavourings and, often, nicotine. E-liquids are available either without nicotine or with nicotine in varying concentrations.

When the e-liquid is heated, it turns into a vapour that can be inhaled.

    Why Is Vaping Safer?

Vaping is "safer" than smoking cigarettes because of what it involves.

When you smoke a cigarette, you are burning tobacco to produce toxic smoke that can then be inhaled. This smoke, in addition to nicotine, often contains thousands of chemicals, many of which are carcinogenic, such as tar, arsenic, and other nasties.

As we saw above, e-liquids contain very few harmful ingredients.

Many people incorrectly believe that nicotine is the harmful substance that causes damage through cigarette smoking. This is not the case, however, nicotine, in small doses, is not known to cause harm to humans---although, this is a topic that scientists and health professionals continue to research and debate. What is known about nicotine is that it is a stimulant and an addictive substance, the latter of which being the reason why many people who smoke cigarettes are unable to easily quit.

    How Do E-Cigarettes Work?

To answer this question, we are going to break a typical e-cigarette or vaporiser down into its components. It really isn't very difficult to explain---vapes are very straightforward devices that perform a simple function.

Each e-cig, vape, or box mod has three main components---the battery, the tank, and the atomiser (or cartomiser or clearomiser---there are subtle differences between the three.) All these come in various shapes, types, and sizes. Sometimes, all three will be present whereas in some devices, you will only have a battery and a small pre-filled tank (cartridge.)

    The Battery

Rather straightforward, an e-cigs battery powers the whole device. Most e-cigs use Li-ion batteries because of the large amount of energy that can be packed into a small, sometimes button-sized, battery.

Since vapes are quite intensive devices that use a lot of juice (no pun intended!), they need robust batteries.

Smaller devices---e.g. e-cigs and small vape pens---typically have a battery built into the system that cannot be removed. Some larger vape pens and "box mods" feature batteries that can be removed and replaced. Mods with removable batteries are great for people who vape a lot because they can keep extra batteries with them and swap them over where necessary.

    The Tank

All e-cigs, vape pens, and box mods have some sort of tank or cartridge that stores and feeds e-liquid to the device's wick. In cig-a-like devices such as the V-Pack II these are often small cartridges. In larger box mods, these are larger tanks.

E-liquid is fed to the device's wick wrapped around a coil that is used to heat the e-liquid up.

The Atomiser (or Cartomiser or Clearomiser)

Vapour is produced by a coil of wire that is wrapped around the cotton wick that has been soaked in e-liquid. This is known as the atomiser (or cartomiser or clearomiser).

Atomisers, with prolonged usage, can conk out and need replacing. Some atomisers are rebuildable and you can simply replace the coil and wick yourself. Others, on the other hand, are disposable and can be detached and disposed of, leaving your device open for a replacement atomiser.

How Does It All Come Together?

When you push the button on your device (or take a puff with cheaper, cig-a-like devices), the battery sends power to the coil. This causes the coil, a thin strip of metal, to quickly heat up and, consequently, it heats up the liquid that is in contact with the coil via the wick.

As soon as this heating process starts, small, dense clouds of vapour are produced that can then be inhaled. As vapour is inhaled, this creates more room for more vapour to be created. When you let go of the button (or stop taking a drag with cig-a-like models), power is no longer fed to the coil and vapour will stop being produced.

Most modern vapes can last for around six seconds before "timing out". This is because airflow stops or because the wick is not being fed with e-liquid.

And that's it. It really is that simple. No combustion. No burning of tobacco. No nasty chemicals. Just simple, straightforward water vapour.
